Course Content

Introduction to Sanskrit
Brief history of Sanskrit: Origins, development, and classical period. Importance and significance of Sanskrit in Indian culture, literature, and religion.

Sanskrit Alphabet and Pronunciation
Introduction to the Devanagari script. Learning the Sanskrit alphabet, including vowels (svarāḥ) and consonants (vyañjanāni). Rules of pronunciation (vākya-śuddhi).

Basic Grammar
Nouns (śabda): Gender, number, and case (kāraka). Verbs (dhātu): Conjugation, tenses (kāla), voices (puruṣa), and moods (lakāra). Adjectives (viśeṣaṇa) and adverbs (kriyāviśeṣaṇa).

Sentence Structure
Sentence formation in Sanskrit (vākyapradhānaṃ). Analysis of simple and complex sentences. Word order (padapāṭha).

Vocabulary Building
Basic vocabulary related to everyday life, family, food, colors, etc. Sanskrit equivalents of common English words.

Writing Practice
Practice writing in Devanagari script. Composition exercises: Descriptive, narrative, and creative writing.
